Deb is no longer with us and is sorely missed for her humor and talents. She brought light and laughter when we needed it most.
Home: Harlingen, Texas or on the road in our RV
Debi is a former librarian who became a quilter upon retirement. Debi’s favorite question is “What else can I do with this?” So, reverse applique brings butterflies and flower pounding gets wool applique and embroidery.
Because recycling is one of her passions, she quickly found ways to use leftover fabrics. From scrappy quilts to shirt aprons to Locker Hooking, she has found a use for every scrap. Her book Quilt Thrifting gets 4 stars and is free on Amazon Kindle Unlimited.
Debi and her husband went on the road to quilt shows all over the US in the summer of 2016. Her most popular demo in her booth was Locker Hooking. Making a matching rug from quilt scraps fascinated quilters. Even folks who didn’t make quilts were interested in using scrap fabric for rag rugs. Locker hooked rugs can be made from fabric scraps, yarn, t-shirt yarn, plastic bags, and wool roving.
Debi will show you how to make rugs, table runners, placemats, hot pads, barn quilts, and many other handy items. In this class, you will also learn to embellish your piece using ribbons and old jewelry.
Debi has taught this class for her own guild and for a quilt shop in Texas. She is Zoom ready. You can reach Debi at debi.warner1129 @ att.net.
I took the Locker Hooking class from Debi Warner through our quilt guild’s Schoolhouse classes, and though I had done Locker Hooking before, Debi added so much more to the class as far as technique and the history of the process, and enthusiasm.

Really liked this class, interesting teacher and a unique technic for using up scraps. You can also make designs, which I tried, but wasn’t too successful at, but it was a challenge and I enjoyed it.
