Dianne Springer

Dianne Springer

May 31, 2020 by admin

Home: Ruston, Louisiana

Dianne Springer first teaching job was to teach art to talented young students. She returned to school to earn her MFA in Studio Art and developed a national following as a glass beadmaker and jewelry designer. Then she discovered quilting.

In 2007 she started a company called Dianne Springer Designs to produce and sell her quilt and applique designs and her unique quilting projects. While traveling she was encouraged to write a book. She did and has designed a line for a major fabric company and then designed fabrics for her own fabric company.

She provides lectures and demonstrations at Quilt Shows, Quilt Guilds and Quilt Shops on a broad array of topics related to fabric arts. One reason for her teaching success and excellent reviews is that she has maintained a belief that makes almost all of her students comfortable and successful. And that is, “We all start out as beginners!”

She enjoys teaching specific techniques including appliques (especially her own designs), and any of her unique short-term, quick-success projects such as her “Quilt in a Clock,” “Quilt in a Clipboard,” and “Quilt on a Chair.” The best way to see what these are, and to get a sense of some of the things she can teach and has taught is to visit her website – www.diannespringerdesigns.com

She is available for classes, lectures, talks, demonstrations and trunk shows. She and her daughter/assistant Brandy love to travel and teach at shops, guilds and quilt shows.

Be sure to tell Dianne you found her on The Quilters Calendar!

Rona Herman

December 9, 2019 by admin

Home: Auburn, Indiana

I’m Rona Herman, also known as Rona the Ribbiter, and I’m an author, teacher, pattern designer, Tour Manager and YouTube host with a passion to experience all that life (and quilting) has to offer.

With a love of math and geometry, I’ve been ‘doodling’ quilt like designs since grade school. However, once my sister finally taught me to sew in 2010, I was off and running! As a self-taught quilter, I’ve tested many methods and techniques to find my niche. Everything from basic stitching and fabric choices to applique and pattern design. After landing a job as a quilt instructor at my local JoAnn Fabric in 2016, I discovered my love of teaching.

Stonehenge RtR 3

Today I’m showing quilters the world through my YouTube videos, taking quilters around the world on my Quilt Tours and helping quilters travel the world themselves through my blog and books. All that AND I’m teaching quilters around the world color theory and my unique style of using fabric and color to turn traditionally pieced blocks into modern quilt designs. My quilts may look difficult. But, in truth, they are as easy to assemble as any traditional quilt!

Candace Hassen

December 9, 2019 by admin

Home: Porterdale, Georgia

My favorite things about making quilts are color relationships, and repeated geometric patterns.

My design ideas come from everywhere including, the nature, textiles and artwork from other cultures, as well as vintage quilts.

I prefer making scrap quilts because I believe they are much richer, and more interesting to look at. They are also versatile, and will add a beautiful focal point, or unique accent to a wider variety of rooms. Most of my quilts are pieced.

I have a Bachelor’s degree in Art, and have been weaving for 30 years.  Both have had a big influence on the way I use color and geometric pattern in my quilts.

I am available to teach quilting classes, and to present trunk shows to quilt guilds.

I have written patterns for many of my quilt designs.

I would love the opportunity to come and meet your guild!

Please visit my website at http://quiltdesignsbycandace.com and my blog at http://quiltdesignsbycandace.blogspot.com/

Please tell Candace that you found her on The Quilters Calendar!
