Candace Hassen

December 9, 2019 by admin

Home: Porterdale, Georgia

My favorite things about making quilts are color relationships, and repeated geometric patterns.

My design ideas come from everywhere including, the nature, textiles and artwork from other cultures, as well as vintage quilts.

I prefer making scrap quilts because I believe they are much richer, and more interesting to look at. They are also versatile, and will add a beautiful focal point, or unique accent to a wider variety of rooms. Most of my quilts are pieced.

I have a Bachelor’s degree in Art, and have been weaving for 30 years.  Both have had a big influence on the way I use color and geometric pattern in my quilts.

I am available to teach quilting classes, and to present trunk shows to quilt guilds.

I have written patterns for many of my quilt designs.

I would love the opportunity to come and meet your guild!

Please visit my website at http://quiltdesignsbycandace.com and my blog at http://quiltdesignsbycandace.blogspot.com/

Robin Koehler

January 7, 2019 by admin

Home: Tarpon Springs, Florida, USA

Life is a journey! My husband’s Coast Guard career allowed NESTLINGS by
Robin to fly for the past 15 years as we traveled; quilting, teaching, and designing.

NESTLINGS by Robin is a Quilt Design/ Pattern Publishing, Hand quilting,
and Appraisal services business.

“Robin’s Wreaths” is the 2018 series quilt in AQ magazine.

In my continuing Appraisal training, the designers of the past have become
my inspiration for my newer work combining traditional elements with my
own whimsical style. Inspiring creativity through collaboration and allowing students to find their inner creative is a common element in my classes. I offer many lectures and workshops including my popular Fabric Collaborations.

My website is www.nestlingsbyrobin.com Please visit me there for more information.

Valerie Goodwin

April 21, 2018 by Rita

Home: Tallahassee, Florida, USA

Author of Art Quilt Maps available through C&T Publishing, Valerie S. Goodwin is an artist who began designing and making quilts in 1998. Her work uses architectural elements such as built form, city planning, and mapping as inspiration. These pieces usually focus on the geometrical relationships, patterns and ordering principles found in architecture.
Valerie has taught workshops nationally and internationally, including Australia, Canada, & Switzerland. These classes focus on the creation of fiber art maps, design thinking, and mixed media techniques. Workshops include MAP PLAY, MAPPING PERSONAL PLACES, FAVORITE PLACES, MAP HAIKU, & MONO-PRINTED MAP COLLAGE.
She also offers several lectures and trunk shows. Her workshops can be done virtually or in-person.
She is a retired Professor of Architecture at Florida A & M University’s School of Architecture; she was educated at Yale University and Washington University in St. Louis. Her work has been exhibited locally, nationally, and internationally. Selected venues include Quilt National, Art Quilts at Sedgwick, and Visions.
Student Comment:
I have attended many workshops and classes at locations such as Arrowmont, Penland and Split Rock and I state that Valerie’s course was one of the strongest workshops I have experienced. Because of the fact that her workshops increase the participants’ sensitivity  to the development of composition as well as mixed media quilting techniques, I would gladly recommend her workshops to friends, students, and colleagues!
