Heather Kojan

May 18, 2018 by Rita

Home: Owings Mill, Maryland

I’ve been sewing since my teens and quilting for more than 25 years.

My first quilt was an Eleanor Burns Quilt in a Day. Since I had a king sized bed, it made sense to me to make a king sized quilt. Go big or go home, right? That quilt was in shades of mauve and dusty blue (hello mid ’80’s!) Let’s just say my fabric tastes have changed since then!

I consider myself a modern quilter, with traditional roots. I’m the founder of the Baltimore Modern Quilt Guild and love speaking to different groups and sharing the modern aesthetic. I’m foremost a teacher. I teach modern quilting classes in local shops, guilds and shows across the country.

I’m a contributing author to the book Classic Modern Quilts and a featured quilter in The Improv Handbook for Modern Quilters by Sherri Lynn Wood, and 50 Little Gifts published by Lucky Spool. You can frequently find my work in Quiltmaker’s 100 Blocks Magazine and Modern Patchwork Magazine.

Let’s connect! You can find me on my blog: www.heatherkojan.com or on Instagram @heatherkojan.

Please let Heather know you found her on The Quilter’s Calendar!

Bev Remillard

May 9, 2017 by Rita

Home: Laguna Hills, California

A little about me…
Loving romance and all it entails naturally leads me to pretty, tasteful and romantic fabrics. I’m inspired to design patterns and quilts with the same charm and grace as the fabric designer. I love colors of all hues and floral prints are my favorite but once in a while I break out of my box and play with brights and batiks.

Lecturing and teaching workshops is all joy to me. I love spending time with other quilters and sharing our quilting passion. Making quilts and designing patterns over the past 18 years I have been able to produce quilts of varying ability and challenges. I truly enjoy teaching and watching other quilters explore color, patterns and design and consider myself blessed to see their finished beauty.

Like most quilters, I’m usually working on about 5-10 projects which teaches me as well…Thank you for considering me. Please take a look at my website Ladylike Designs and contact me at bevquiltlady @ aol.com to come teach for you!

For the past decade, Kathy has enjoyed sharing her love of quilt making with guilds and shops across the Midwest.  Then, in January of 2019 she moved to Texas!  And in the spring of 2020, she has gone nationwide!  Thanks to her history as a software instructor, our current stay-at-home situation provided Kathy with an opportunity to meld her computer experience with her love of teaching quilt making.

In May of 2020 – Kathy moved from the brick and mortar classroom to the virtual classroom ….  ZOOM.  Her first class had more than 20 students and it went great!  Visit her on Facebook (BobKat Quilts) or at her website to see what her students have to say about their ZOOM experience.  Whether you represent a guild looking for a presenter with ZOOM capabilities or you are a student wanting to take a class…  BobKat Quilts and Zoom is the perfect answer!

I have heard a very, very favorable review from a trusted guild member regarding how much they enjoyed Kathy’s program and how proficient she was with Zoom technology. ~Marguerita

Barbara Cline

November 4, 2013 by Rita

Barbara-ClineHome: Shenandoah Valley, Virginia

Barbara Cline started creating quilts in her teens. Her first one was a design she made up, with fabrics pieced together to create a woven look. Since then, she has had over 30 years of experience in quilting, teaching classes at a local sewing shop, and creating beautiful quilts and patterns. She also travels teaching to quilt guilds and quilt shows.

Barbara worked at The Clothes Line (now called Patchwork Plus) from 5th grade until she got married and had children. After she stopped working at the fabric store, she was a stay-at-home mother; piecing quilt tops to sell when she had the time. When her last child entered kindergarten, she started working part-time again at The Clothes Line.

Barbara is a national teacher and lecture. She currently teaches classes at Patchwork Plus and loves to design and piece wall hangings and quilts from her home in Shenandoah Valley, Virginia.

Barbara has three books published by C&T Publishing: Star Struck Quilts, Simply Triangles and Diamond Chain Quilts. Visit Barbara’s Website for more about her quilts and classes. Or visit The Patchwork Plus where Barbara is a regular teacher.
